Historic Buildings News
In collaboration with the Trumbull County Historical Society, the Newton Falls Preservation Foundation (NFPF) has submitted applications for four Newton Falls homeowners for consideration by the Historical Society of their homes as historic buildings of age and significance under the Historic Building Recognition Program. We have been assured that these applications are being considered and are on track for a determination of approval in a timely manner.
Once approved by the Trumbull County Historic Sites Committee, each homeowner will receive a distinctive plaque recognizing the historical significance of their property which can be displayed on the exterior of their home.
In addition to applications for the four homes, the NFPF has also submitted an application to the Trumbull County Historical Society for recognition of the historic Newton Falls U.S.O./Community Center under the Historic Building Recognition Program. The NFPF anticipates receiving a determination from the Trumbull County Historical Society in the very near future. Finally, in June, the NFPF submitted a comprehensive and formal nomination through the State Historic Preservation Office of the Ohio History Connection for consideration of the historic Newton Falls U.S.O./Community Center for designation and inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
